An update on life...

This blog has been quiet for too long. I apologize to you who were expecting more from me. So I will attempt to give a few of my musings over the last while.

I can hardly believe it's November already. That means I have been living here for almost 3 months. Where has the time gone? If I'm not careful, a year will have gone by and I will have missed it completely. I guess that's one thing I've been thinking of...making the most of every opportunity I get. I want to live in each moment and make it count - not be wishing for the next big thing to happen. I want to offer Jesus in those little moments of interaction.

Last evening was one such event. Mom, Ang, Abby, and I went to one of the reserves to help with a Cookie Club/Kid's Club. There is a couple and a single girl from Sioux Lookout who started this and had too many children to handle by themselves so they asked us for help. It felt like God answered our prayers, as we had been praying for opportunities like this. So last evening was the first time we went - and we loved it! Well the ride up and back was quite interesting due to a white-out and completely snow-covered roads, but the time there was so good! Those children were certainly not shy - just hungry for love and attention - and we were happy to provide it. I can't wait to keep passing out cookies and building relationships with these precious children.

Friday was a fun day spent in Dryden. (for Jenna's take on the day, please visit our Hudson blog.) It felt like we finally got a day out! :) But probably one of the best parts was being able to interact with other youth that evening. I really miss that - probably more than I thought I would. (I expected that since I'm older it wouldn't bother me so much - and it doesn't all the time- but sometimes I need some interaction outside of my ahem...awesome family. :) So that was a highlight for me.

I'm working at the bookstore 5 days a week - and so far loving it! :) Booktrip season is upon us so things are getting really busy. The first trip was this week so we have a lot of product being packed up and flown out - which makes for more ordering, pricing, shelving - basically more work for Rachel and I. :) But I'm enjoying my time of learning how everything runs smoothly there.

I want to leave you with a quote that I found on a plaque somewhere. This quote has been challenging me with the way I live my life - especially in the short moments of interaction with customers at the store. I don't even know who the author is but I love the quote.

Live in such a way that those who know you - but
don't know God, will come to know God -
because they know you.

Blessings to each of you as you walk the journey that God has for you!
